Maira has 10 years of industry experience leading Research and Development (R&D) teams in immunology, bacterial genetics, food-associated pathogens, probiotics, and antibiotic resistance in support of new product development. As Clinical Trials and Regulatory Compliance Specialist at SNI, Maira holds a dual role as Project Co-ordinator and subject matter expert in clinical research, regulatory affairs, and quality assurance. Maira earned a Master of Science degree in Molecular Microbiology from Mexico, a Ph.D. in Food Science from the University of Guelph (Ontario), and a postdoctoral fellowship in antibiotic resistance from McMaster’s University. Outside of work, she enjoys being active with her family hiking, biking, kayaking, and skiing. She also loves baking and enjoys volunteering as a Girl Guides of Canada unit guider.
