Putting Winnipeg on the map – and improving the health of Western Canadians.
In a region underserved but no less deserving, the communities in Manitoba have a high potential to benefit from clinical research.
At SNI, we will provide the infrastructure and operational systems you need to run a successful clinical trial right in our facilities.
Facility & Equipment
Our hospital-grade, custom built, fully-accessible clinical trials facilities are situated in Winnipeg, within reach of over 800,000 individuals, including in remote northern regions.
Our clinical facility on Munroe Avenue boasts 4 private rooms, on-site sample management, and is equipped with top-of-the-line equipment, including:
State-of-the-art, fully accessible phlebotomy bed (Midmark 626 Barrier-Free® Examination Chair)
Accessibility for all, providing customized positioning for study appointments! Wheelchair accessible, power operated height adjustment, adjustable/removable arm rests for comfort, and easy access for study measurements, and adjustable back rest for upright or horizontal positions.
InBody 570 Body Composition Analyzer
Analyzes fat and muscle, total body water and differentiates between right arm, left arm, trunk, right leg, and left leg, by sending safe low-level currents through the body using hand and foot electrodes. Can automatically calculate BMI by accounting for height, age, and gender.
Stadiometer
Provides highly accurate digital height measurements, with the ability to Bluetooth to the InBody 570 to accurately account for participants height. The participant steps on the stadiometer and subsequently on the InBody to obtain an analysis of their body composition. Using Bluetooth technology, the InBody 570 captures the participants height from the stadiometer negating the need for manual entry.
Elite HRV CorSense®
A Bluetooth-connectable heart rate monitor measures heart rate variability through pulse detection via a multi-wave sensor. Paired with the Elite HRV App, participants are guided through a standard breathing activity for 2 minutes. Upon completion the app generates results and calculations for heart rate, heart rate variability, R-R (the amount of time between heartbeats), and more!
Vitalograph® (Spirometry)
Measures the forced vital capacity and forced expiratory volume to determine lung capacity.
Blood pressure (Omron® Canada)
The Omron® blood pressure monitor effortlessly measures systolic and diastolic blood pressure, as well as pulse.
EyeNuk Retinal Scanning
A handheld camera will capture eye images, and resulting scans will be analyzed using the EyeNuk EyeArt® system to help detect the early onset of diabetic retinopathy.
JAMAR® Hydraulic Hand Dynamometer
A hand dynamometer is an evaluation tool that measures handgrip strength. The Dynamometer uses hydraulics to measure the force of participant’s handgrip.
OneTouch® Glucose Monitor
The OneTouch® glucose monitor is used to measure glucose blood levels using only a single drop of blood.
Urisys 1100® Urine Analyzer
Using a small urine sample, the Urisys 1100® can analyze specific gravity, pH, leukocytes, nitrites, protein, glucose, ketone bodies, urobilinogen, bilirubin, and blood.
ECG
The electrocardiogram (ECG) is a graphical record of electrical heart muscle activities during each heart cycle. It’s the most important tool for detecting myocardial ischemia, conduction abnormalities, and interpretation of cardiac rhythm. As well, it’s a helpful tool in evaluating other cardiac diseases such as valvular heart disease, hypertensive disease, and heart failure.
